The 2012
Grand Marshal
Jeff A. Davis
The Friends of St. Patrick are proud to announce that local businessman Jeff A. Davis, owner and manager of the Rocky Point Funeral Home has been chosen as the Grand Marshal for the 62nd Annual Miller Place-Rocky Point St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
Jeff has long standing roots in the community.  His ancestry goes back to 1647 when the Valentine family started farming in the Shoreham area.  What is now Valentine Road in Shoreham was a boundary for the family farm.  Jeff grew up in Northport and moved to Patchogue in the 1970’s when he started working for the Ruland Funeral Home and was there for almost 30 years.
When an opportunity to buy the Rocky Point Funeral Home arose in December of 2000, Jeff made a move and became an important part of our local community.  In addition to running his business Jeff has also been active in the Rocky Point Civic Association, the North Shore Beach Property Owners Association, the Rocky Point Historical Society, Brookhaven Business and Community Alliance, and is the past president of the Rocky Point Rotary as well as past president of the Nassau-Suffolk Funerals Directors Association.  He has also served with the New York Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association.
Jeff also volunteers his time to Camp-pa-qua-tuck as well as organizing holiday meals at a local nursing home.  You might ask why?  Well in Jeff’s words, “because that is what a community is all about”.
It’s no wonder that when asked to be Grand Marshal Jeff was awestruck and speechless.  His biggest concern was being able to take on the responsibility of the honor of Grand Marshal.  Being the man that Jeff is he will make the time to be there for his community once again.
With running a business as Jeff does; one of trust, comfort, and understanding.  The Rocky Point Funeral Home is the only family owned funeral home on the North Shore of Brookhaven between Setauket and Wading River.  Staying true to the families that built this community.
The Friends of St. Patrick are very proud to call Jeff their Grand Marshal.  Please join them in paying tribute to Jeff A. Davis on Sunday February 26, 2012 from 4:00 to 8:00PM in the Grand Ballroom at The Inn at East Wind on Route 25A in Wading River, where they will be holding their Cocktail Party Fundraising event.
