Friends of St. Patrick

Founded    in    1949    by    businessmen    John    M.    Sullivan    and George Faulkner, the Friends of St. Patrick launched   their   first   Miller   Place   -   Rocky   Point   St.   Patrick’s   Day parade on March 11, 1950.  Since that day, so many aspects of the parade have changed.  The   parade   route,   once   a   rustic   two-lane   road,   is   now   a highly developed four-lane highway.  The   spectators,   once   numbering   in   the   hundreds,   are   now   in the tens of thousands.   Yet   the   original   goal   of   bringing   our   community   together,   as set by the cofounders so many years ago, still remains today.
The   Friends   of   St.   Patrick   welcomes   you   to   our   website   and encourages   you   to   visit   our   History    page   for   a   more   in   depth look   at   the   founders   and   the   rich   history   of   this   organization. In    addition,    there    are    many    resources    available    to    you including    parade    attendee    request    forms ,    cocktail    party invitations    and    donation    information ,    queen    and    court applications , golf outing attendee and sponsorship forms. To   send   our   organization   an   email   visit   the   Contact   Us    page or check the Membership page to contact a specific member. Come on down to enjoy the festivities in March.

It is with deep regret and profound sadness that we announce the passing of former organizational president and longest tenured member, James O'Sullivan.  Mr. O'Sullivan who hailed from County Kerry, Ireland was the 1965 St. Patrick's Day Parade Grand Marshal.  Mr. O'Sullivan was the nephew of parade co-founder John M. Sullivan.  A member of the organization for over 60 years, he oversaw the preparation of nearly every parade. Mr. O’Sullivan's sons John and Raymond are current members of the organization. A mass of Christian burial will be offered 9:00am on Wednesday, January 18th at St. Louis De Montfort Roman Catholic Church 75 New York Ave Sound Beach, NY. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Coram, NY.  Rest in Peace.
